Bethel Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, conservative Baptist Church.
Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Holy Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus (John 1:12) as our Savior; and on the profession of our faith (Psalm 107:2 and Matthew 10:32,33); having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19,20); we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant one with another, as one body in Christ (Ephesians 4:4-60).
We shall engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also shall engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of kindred and acquaintances, and to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, exemplary in our deportment to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; (Ephesians 4:29); to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage (Proverbs 20:1); and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress (James 2:15-17); to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and, mindful of the rules of the Savior, to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will as soon as possible unite with some other church (Hebrews 10:25) of like faith and order where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
Our Purpose is...
Our purpose is to fulfill the commission for which God created the church:
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen" (Matthew 28:18-20).
Specifically, we seek...
1. To evangelize people with a presentation of the saving grace of Jesus Christ that they may submit to the Lord and worship Him.
2. To edify people in developing a Christ-like personality that they may seek the Lord and walk with Him.
3. To educate people for meaningful participation in the local church that they serve the Lord and work for Him.
4. To encourage people to discover their purpose in life that they may share the Lord with others and witness for Him.
